Quayclean
As part of a fleet upgrade, Quayclean introduced Ford Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Long Wheelbase vans into their operations.
VQuip was engaged to design and install an efficient internal fitout that would support cleaning equipment storage while adapting to this new-generation hybrid vehicle platform.
Supporting a National Cleaning Services Provider
Quayclean is a national cleaning services and waste management partner with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality services across Australia.
Since 2002, Quayclean has provided cleaning and waste management solutions to a wide range of environments including:
- Aquatic and leisure centres
- Stadiums and racecourses
- Major venues and precincts
- Domain and public spaces
- Commercial and retail facilities
With more than 5,000 staff nationwide, their teams support some of Australia’s busiest public venues and facilities. Reliability, efficiency and well-organised service vehicles are essential to maintaining their operational standards.
Adapting a Fitout to a Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle Platform
Plug-in hybrid vans introduce some unique considerations compared with traditional diesel vehicles.
While the Ford Transit Custom PHEV retains a practical cargo area similar to the diesel model, the hybrid system and vehicle packaging mean that fitout solutions must still be carefully considered to ensure compatibility and durability.
For this fleet rollout, VQuip adapted elements of its standard modular fitout system to suit the vehicle platform while maintaining the durability required for daily operational use.
The objective was to create a simple, robust and easy-to-maintain layout that would allow technicians to safely store cleaning equipment, consumables and operational tools.
Fitout Configuration
The completed vehicle fitout included several core elements designed for durability and ease of use.
A heavy-duty MDF floor system with a bonded rubber surface was installed throughout the cargo area.
Each van was equipped with VQuip’s crash-tested shelving system, providing organised storage for tools, consumables and equipment.
By keeping equipment securely organised, the shelving system helps technicians quickly locate items while maintaining safe storage during vehicle operation.
Supporting Fleet Visibility Through Digital QA
In addition to the physical fitout, VQuip also provided digital quality assurance documentation for the fleet builds.
Using the VHub customer portal, Quayclean received access to digital QA reports for each vehicle.
These reports included:
- Build inspection checklists
- Photographic documentation of the completed fitout
- Confirmation that installation standards were met
For organisations managing fleets across multiple locations, digital QA reporting provides additional visibility and confidence that each vehicle has been completed to the required standard.
Delivering Practical Fitouts for Modern Fleet Vehicles
As fleet operators begin introducing new vehicle technologies such as plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, fitout providers must ensure their systems remain compatible with evolving vehicle platforms.
This project demonstrates how VQuip’s modular fitout systems can be adapted to suit new-generation vehicles while maintaining the durability and organisation required for daily operational use.
For Quayclean, the result is a fleet of well-organised service vans ready to support cleaning operations across major venues and facilities.
